Early Literacy Family Night
On February 6th, we hosted a family night at the MUEE STEAM Center in Gilbert. Our focus was to promote early literacy not only at school, but also at home. Several children, parents, and grandparents joined us for a night of literacy experiences. The children and their families used materials to retell the story of The Three Little Pigs, worked to recognize letters and spell words with Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and used puppets to act out Barnyard Song. Another purpose of this family night was to introduce Traveling Splat. This is a tool to encourage reading at home and provides a home-to-school literacy connection. We had an engaging literacy night!
